Is there a way to selectivly set the screen timeout for individual apps (like never when maps is open) or when plugged in to the usb (seems like I saw this one in the settings, but can't seem to find it now). I am getting so tired of having to cut my screen on and unlock my phone while driving down the road (plus I'm told it's dangerous, lol).

Let me know if you find something, I HATE this. It doesnt always do it either, its very frustrating, and I cant figure out what is causing it do close.

Sometimes its every 5 min or sometimes it takes 30min, either way its always when I need to see the map. :p

Tasker allows you to adjust many many settings (including screen timeout) on or before app launch and set them back when you exit the app, all without touching your profiles.

Well, I was kinda hoping for a free alternative, but if tasker is what it takes I might get it. I have a couple other projects I have been thinking about that also need tasker. On a side note, If I do decide to get tasker now, and later on down the line I decide to root my phone, will I be able to download tasker (or any of my current apps) from the market place again for free or will I have to pay again.

Rooting your phone won't affect your apps or stop you from using the market in a normal way. I think it will stop ota updates.

Rooting your phone will not wipe out your existing settings/apps.

Yes you are still registered as purchasing because it is with your gmail address that you are using on your phone.
