Upping the clock speed 50% makes this old Eris quite responsive. Froyo should make it even better. I'm going to wait a bit for those ROMs to settle down.

Ok. I went to the site above. It lead me to a mobile site. Went there on my phone, and installed. Pushed the start button as they said and then it said done below. Is that it? That took less than 5 seconds. Now what?

As long as you see the program called 'superuser' in your app drawer you are done.
If it worked, then well, you can install any app requiring root access.

No such app in the drawer. Rebooted. Tried it again and still nothing. Do you have another method for the HERO, because that one doesn't do anything.

I'm feeling a little stupid. I didn't completely scroll down the page for the other site. I'm going to try that one again first. It may take me 30 minutes, because I'll need to read everything about 5 or 6 times. I have no idea what I'm doing and I really don't want to brick my phone. Everyone in the world would here me scream if that happened. I'm so scared that I'm going to screw it up.

I used xda lag fix today. The program is available in the market. Just search for lag fix and download the ryzan OCLF and use the file to root your phone. Follow the help instructions.

as long as youve backed everything up first you should be fine. take the idea of bricking your device out of your mind or it will scare you silly. I understand you want to be careful which i know that you are. Go slowly with it...step by step...i think we should have a 1800-everything hotline for these type things lol.

It used to be. You can find it at xda-developers forum. Just search for it. If your running 2.1 you can use OCLF in the market just search lag fix. The root dies not work on Froyo that comes with the lag fix.

True, but for HTC, the unrevoked team specializes in SenseUI devices.
